What is flash rust?
Flash rust is the light orange film that forms on bare steel within minutes of a hot aqueous wash, while the surface is still warm and damp. It is not a cleaner defect — it is what clean, unprotected steel does in humid air, and it is prevented with an inhibitor or immediate drying.

Cleaning removes the oil film that was protecting the part. A freshly cleaned steel face is chemically bare, still warm from the wash, and carrying a thin water layer — every condition corrosion needs. In a humid monsoon plant it can appear in under five minutes.
Three defences work. Dry the part immediately and completely, including blind holes. Carry a corrosion inhibitor in the final rinse. Or use a cleaner with in-built inhibition, which is how Power Clean's aqueous concentrates hold 7–15 days of indoor protection straight out of the wash.
For longer storage or export, that in-built protection is a bridge, not a solution — parts going into a container need a dedicated rust preventive or VCI packaging.
